This fun necklace features three charms; a cut-out of the upper peninsula, a cut-out of the lower peninsula, and a Petoskey stone bead. The Michigan charms are made of textured sterling silver. The charms swing freely so it never looks quite the same from one minute to the next.
The Michigan charms are about 5/8ths of an inch across and the Petoskey stone bead is about 3/4s of an inch long.
Petoskey stones are a fossilized coral most often found in Lake Michigan. The vast majority are found in the Little Traverse Bay region of Lake Michigan near the towns of Petoskey and Harbor Springs, Michigan. I get my beads from a local craftsman who collects and cuts the stones in the Petoskey area.
Since these are natural stones, they will not look exactly like the ones in the photographs, but they will be close. The 6th photograph shows some of the variety of Petoskey stones. This listing includes ONLY ONE necklace with a Petoskey stone charm and the 2 peninsula charms of Michigan.
Each pendant comes with a sterling silver double rope chain. Please specify 16, 18, or 20 inches long for the chain. If in doubt, 18 inch chains seem to work well for most people. See the photo for reference.
I designed and hand-made the original silver charms with their hammered texture then had multiples cast off that original. Next I added a bail to the charms and added the Petoskey stone.
Enjoy!
